Eos

Notes on northern light, weather, and the quiet changes between seasons.

Observation / 01

When the light stays low

In the north, the angle of sunlight can change a familiar landscape more than the weather. On a clear autumn afternoon, a small rise in the ground casts a long shadow and reveals details that disappear under a high summer Sun.

Return to the same place at the same hour. A simple sketch is enough to record the change.

Observation / 02

Reading the clouds

A cloud is a changing shape, not a fixed object. Watch its edges for a few minutes: what seems still from a distance may be forming on one side and dissolving on the other.

Record the wind direction, visibility, and the height of the Sun alongside the shape you see.

A small habit

Leave room in the notebook

There is no need to identify everything on the first walk. A date, a place, and one careful observation are a useful beginning. The questions you cannot answer are often the best reason to return.
